As many of you know, we have been working on an update to give you all some content before the ToF expansion. It is no slight update:

- Faction system (Heroes server)
- Changes to PVP system (Heroes server)
- New art for trees and grass
- Craftable mage weapons
- New craftable gear
- New quests and quest sets
- New minibosses in starter areas
- New starting area quests
- Taskmasters will be back
- Bug fixes of course!
- Debug code (traps) for the Mage D/C and other crashers (thanks to everyone who provided crash info, esp GooRooBeary)
- A NEW KITTY! (sorry this was just getting to be such a serious post)

We typically do not give out release dates for updates until we are certain that it is ready to go. We will let you guys know a few days in advance, as always, and give you and update on the update downtime. Also, as the time draws nearer we will be outlining the changes on Heroes.

Is there high-end content in this update, or is it mostly geared towards fleshing out the starting areas?

The new areas improvements are the best thing that may happen.
If this game is going to growth it need to get a hook on the newbies for a longer time that Valinor content may offer.
Thank you for the info too, now let's see the February newsletter :)

Will all tradeskill magics return? Seems that items like the magic skinning knife, logging axe and scythe don't drop anymore...

EDIT: oh and about the taskmasters: will the existing working ones just return, or will the non functional ones work now too (farming for example).

I must be misinformed then. I was under the impression that the scythe, skinning knife and logging axe fell under the same value as the other tradeskill items that DO drop from the various tradeskill critters (dragoons, termigons, giant cave rats). If you have seen any of these 3 items drop from a monster recently, don't hesitate to PM me the details...
